Local Paddington Info

Paddington is an area located in central London, within the City of Westminster. In past it used to be a part of Middlesex.

This area is famous for it used to be the home of many great people of art and science, such as the Victorian poet Robert Browning. Here also lived Sir Alexander Flemning, who first isolated penicillin and earned the Nobel Prize for this achievement. This happened in St Mary’s Hospital in Praed Street. It is the place where several notable medical accomplishments took place. There can be visited the Alexander Fleming Laboratory Museum, a peak to his 1928 laboratory. Videos and displays explore the story of his discovery.
Nowadays, Paddington is one of the prime office and residential areas and offers a lot of entertainments, as well, no matter if you need to go shopping or visit the Sussex Gardens.

Some famous movie stars, like Alfred Molina, Emma Thompson and Keifer Sutherland have chosen the area for their homes.

One of the oldest working train stations in the world, is located in Paddington. It opened in 1836 and is still operational, serving as a main terminal for train services to the west of London – Oxford, Bristol, Bath, Plymouth and South Wales.
