Local Deptford  Info

Deptford is a district in Greater London with lusty atmosphere and rich history. The area is mostly connected with Henry VIII and more specific with the Royal Naval Dockyard he built. Hence the docks provided more jobs for any work connected with ship building and steering. One of the most popular Deptford’s landmarks is the Deptford railway station. It is considered to be one of the oldest suburban stations in the world.

The first track leads to Charles Booth- a social researcher who started colouring every street in the city. Each colour referred to a code. Dark blue was for “chronic want”, pink was for “fairly comfortable”, black- “semi- criminal and vicious”, red- “middle class and well-to-do”, etc. Deptford High Street was mainly red, marked with a little pink and blue- black in the middle.
