Local West Brompton Info

Situated in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, West Brompton is one of the most expensive residential areas in London. Though the landscape of the area has been changed dramatically by the modern looking housing estates, still the most interesting remains the Brompton cemetery. Opened officially in 1840, it is the burial place of great people like Sir James Brown, Henry Cole and Samuel Baker. Emmeline Pankhurst- on of the greatest leaders of the suffragette movements- also was buried here.

Close by is the magnificent Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre, the largest such venue in Central London. It has accommodated some of the greatest music stars on its stage, including Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Queen, Iron Maiden, Madonna, U2 and many others. Much more exclusive in style is the Finborough Theatre- a fifty-seat venue, reserved for English and American plays.

The West Brompton tube station is the focal transport point of the area.
